That should fix the problem (unless the problem is on your own system drive). Any suggestions? Reformat and re-partition the external hard drive. I've tried system restore but couldn't find a restore point that would produce a verifiable image either. I also use Advanced SystemCare to clean house. RegCure is actually recommended by Microsoft as safe to use. I'll never touch another one of those as long as I live. I did try a couple of those 'snake oil' registry cleaners. I keep my hard drive defragged on a regular basis. It went through it's paces but came up with nothing again. Yet the other day when I booted up I got a black screen telling me that there was a possible problem with the disk. I've run the system file checker too, it said no errors. Nothing tells me what archive or how to fix it. This is not FreeArc archive or this archive is corrupt-Unarc dll sniper Ghost Warrior. The archive is corrupt.'ĮRROR:this is not FreeArc archive or this archive is. The details were 'Operation with partition'0-0' was terminated. I ran that and it aborted the backup process. I thought it might be Macrium so I downloaded a trial copy of Acronis True Image 2010 Home. They couldn't get it to verify an image either. I took my machine into the repair shop and had a diagnostic run on it. They told me it was probably a hard drive issue. I worked with one of their support people to try to find out why. I bought Macrium Reflect for this purpose. I bought a new external HD to put backup images on.
